Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan: Hockey, gatka, chess events organised
Under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2024’ organised by the Punjab Government’s Sports Department, the fifth day of district-level games began with chess and hockey games. District Sports Officer Gurpreet said players of different age groups, ranging from under-14 to over 70 years, participated in the games. These sports competitions will be held from September 16-22 at various sports venues.
Athletes participated in these games in different age and weight categories. The under-14 and under-17 hockey matches were conducted for boys and girls.
In gatka competition, Gurdiksha (Mukerian) stood first while Amanpreet Kaur (BJFS Gatka Sports Club) stood second in the under-21 category of girls’ free stick individual final competition. In the single stick individual competition Gurleen Kaur (Dasuya) got the first place and Amanpreet Kaur (Gatka Akhara, Birampur) got the second place.
In the team competition, in the free stick under-21 girls’ team competition, the Mukerian team won the first place and BJFS Gatka Sports Club won the second place. Similarly, in the single stick team finals, the Garna Sahib team won the first place and BJFS team stood second.
