Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec 18
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), president, Gobind Singh Longowal, informed that organisers would not be allowed to prepare and serve of kheer, jalebi, halwa and use loud speakers during Shaheedi Jor Mela.
Longowal said Shaheedi Jor Mela is held to pay tributes to supreme sacrifice made by Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh.
He said the SGPC along with the district administration would install CCTV cameras on the road leading towards Gurdwara Sri Joti Saroop Sahib from Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
Longowal met Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill and SSP Amneet Kondal, among others. He urged organisers to prepare simple langar and refrain from using single use plastic products. He also lauded the administration for banning circus, swings and other amusement items. He asked the administration to provide transport facilities for old age and differently-abled persons.
He said brooms would not be used to clean roads ahead of Palki Sahib as dust gathers on Guru Granth Sahib and automatic cleaning machines would be pressed into service. — OC
