KMV collegiate orientation session

Jalandhar: KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised an orientation session by Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi for the new entrants. While addressing the students, the Principal welcomed the students to session 2022-23. She motivated the students and averred that they must believe in themselves and must set high goals in lives as the most successful persons have risen from small backgrounds. Inspiring the students, the Principal further maintained that nothing is impossible in life and students must have confidence in themselves as sky is the limit for them. She added that they should not only develop their skills but also work on their overall personality to be successful and should utilise their time for constructive purposes. Towards the end of the session, Prof Dwivedi guided the students to remain focused towards their goals. She lauded the efforts of Veena Deepak (Co-ordinator, KMV Collegiate school), Dr Madhumeet (Dean, Department of Student Welfare), Dr Neeraj Maini (Head, PG Department of Commerce), Dr Neetu Chopra (Associate Professor, PG Department of Physics), Anand Prabha (In charge, KMV Collegiate school) and all collegiate teachers for organising the session.

Fancy dress competition for kids

To bring out hidden talents of kids, a fancy dress competition was held for primary students of Eklavya School. Boys dressed up as doctors, farmers, freedom fighters, soldier and girls dressed up as teachers, fairies, students, brides and lotus to name a few.

It was a proud moment to see the little ones speak so softly. Chairperson of Eklavya School JK Gupta got mesmerised to see all little ones in their beautiful attire and Eklavya School Director Seema Handa said the competition helped primary kids to overcome their stage fear, bring out their inner talent give them a platform to build their self-confidence and to explore their inner strength. All students came on stage with confidence and tried to speak a few lines. Ayan of Class I dressed as a soldier and stole the show as he presented himself and spoke Vande Matram with confidence. Navya Sharma of Class II dressed as a lotus and Ravneet Kaur of Class II dressed as a teacher. The winners of fancy dress competition were Ayan, Gurnoor Singh and Noa Singh of Class I; Navya Sharma, Seerat Kaur and Ravneet Kaur of Class II.

Internship for hotel mgmt students

Students of hotel management from Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus have been selected for industrial training in hotel JW Marriott. Nine students — Gureena, Sunaina, Priya, Sahil, Manish, Sourav, Sandeep, Kunal and Prabhjot — got selected. KCL Group of Institutions Academic Affairs Director Sukhbir Singh Chatha stated that internship gives a hands-on experience to students and helps them relate theory with practice and is also the need of the hour to make them skilled and employable. LKCTC Director Dr SK Sood congratulated the department for the achievement. School of Hotel Management HOD Arashdeep Singh stated that more internship-cum-placement opportunities would be provided to the students in the coming days to develop their skill set and make them employable.

Students, staff plant 250 saplings

Students and staff of DIPS Polytechnic College planted 250 saplings in the college campus and gave a message of environmental protection. These included fruits, flowers and medicinal plants such as neem, peepal, tulsi, amla, guava, mango, cardamom, jamun, lemon grass, etc.

During this, students planted saplings and gave them water and took a vow that till they come to college, they will take care of these trees so that they grow up till the completion of their academic year. College Principal Jagjit Singh said in order to make people aware about plantation, it is necessary that we should gift a plant as a gift to the chief guest and guests on various programmes and events. On the occasion, Prof Tajinderpal Singh, Balveer Singh, Simranjit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Vivek, Jasveer Kaur, Amarpreet Kaur, Simarjit Kaur and other members were present. MD Tarwinder Singh said every person should take a pledge to keep the environment clean and plant a tree and take care of it.

Seminar on ‘Status of Women’

PCM SD Collegiate Senior Secondary School held a seminar on “Status of Women in India”. Sushil Saini and Sangita Saini, both social workers, attended the event. Dr Kiran Arora, education advisory to a governing body, was also a part of the event. Principal Prof (Dr) Pooja Prashar accorded a warm welcome to the guests. Sangita Saini enunciated her views on empowering women which is fundamental to nation-building. Womenfolk need to come forward in every walk of life, to progress and advancement, said Saini. Towards the conclusion of the event, the Principal gave away saplings to the guests as a token of gratitude. Members of the managing committee and the Principal lauded the efforts of the staff and in charge of the school block, Sushma Sharma, for organising such an event.

Capacity building programme

To augment subject knowledge, teaching skills and learn new teaching techniques, Sanskriti KMV School organised a CBSE capacity building programme for teachers of various subjects. The workshop was a part of the CBSE initiative of making in-service teacher training mandatory for all its affiliated schools with the overall goal of empowering teachers to improve student learning and achievement.

Ranjana Bhardwaj, Vice-Principal (Kids R Kids, School) was the CBSE resource person on “Happy Classrooms”. Throughout the day, teachers indulged in self-exploration and self-analysis through a plethora of group activities. They learnt about self-management, self-motivation, relationship management, emotional self-regulation and social awareness to have a stress-free and happy outlook towards life. Principal Rachna Monga emphasised to adapt to latest technologies and innovative pedagogies of teaching to cater to the needs of present-day tech-savvy students and spur their interest in learning. She urged them to explore new pathways to happiness.

10-day NCC camp at DAVIET College

Digangana Kundal, Nisar Akhtargul and Aastha Anand of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, participated in a combined annual training camp of Second Punjab Battalion NCC (National Cadet Corps) held at DAVIET College, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra, addressing the students who participated in the 10-day camp, said: “Students can enhance their all-round personality by stepping out of their comfort zones to participate in such camps.

This will not only help in their personality development but also inculcate good discipline in them which will help them throughout life.” Students said they attended the camp under the guidance of Dr Neeraj Katyal and added they learnt the skill of never giving up, strong will power and the spirit of brotherhood. On the other hand, they also learnt how to step out of their comfort zone, build up self-confidence and polish their hidden talent. Students also thanked all organising members and authorities of the NCC camp for their cooperative attitude.

CBSE Class X, XII results

Out of 137 students of Class X from Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara, who appeared in CBSE examination, 11 students secured 95 per cent marks and above and 34 students secured above 90 per cent and 70 students secured 80 per cent and above. Devishi Gera, a consistent performer, bagged the first position in the school by securing 99.2 per cent marks followed by Lavanya Sharma with 98.8 per cent and Khushdeep Kaur with 98.4 per cent at the second and third position respectively. Principal Anju Mehta and staff congratulated the students and their proud parents.

Kamla Nehru Public School

A total of 102 students of Kamla Nehru Public School appeared in CBSE Class X exams in the session 2021-22. A total of 10 students scored 90 per cent marks and above. Reva Duggal topped with 94.6 per cent marks and Manreet Kaur stood second with 94.4 per cent. Ekamjeet Singh secured the third rank with 94 per cent and Arshdeep Kuar scored 93.2 per cent. School Principal PK Dhillon congratulated the students, parents and the staff.

Apeejay School

Son of city-based doctors Dr Lalit Garg and Dr Nidhi Garg, Keshav Garg, a student of Apeejay School, scored 96.6 per cent marks in CBSE Class X examination. He secured 100 per cent marks in mathematics and science. He wants to crack IIT and become a robotic engineer.

Cambridge International School

A total of 28 students of Cambridge International School appeared for CBSE Class X exams and secured 90 per cent and above marks. Avi Gautam brought laurels to the school by securing 97.4 per cent marks. Sunpreet Singh stood second with 96.8 per cent marks. Anuja Jain and Amanpreet Kaur secured 95.8 per cent marks and secured the third position in the school whereas Vansh Jain secured the fourth position by securing 95 per cent marks. Principal Jorawar Singh congratulated the students and wished them luck for their future.

SRT DAV Public School

In SRT DAV Public School, Bilga, 75 students appeared for CBSE Class XII exams. Sonali got 96.4 per cent marks, Mansi 96.2 per cent, Gurleen 93.6 per cent, Gurkaran Singh 93.2 per cent and Sahilpreet Malhan 92.4 per cent. Nearly 14 students secured above 90 per cent marks. Principal Ravi Sharma congratulated the students.
