“He told me that even though he had not got any position, he was sure that he would be getting a gold next year. I was surprised to listen to him. I asked him how he was going to do that? So, he replied that he had observed every player and was ready to work really hard on his weaknesses and he was true. He worked really hard and won a gold medal,” the father said.

Sameer now aims to represent the country in international tournaments and championships and preparations are already underway.

His journey in gymnastics began when he was around seven-year old, inspired by a senior at his school. “He really played a major role in my life. I got inspired just by watching him perform. That was when I started training under Luv sir,” Sameer told The Tribune while returning from New Delhi.
