A total of 54 individuals have successfully completed a one-month fast food preparation training programme at the Navjeevan Kendra, Civil Hospital Kapurthala, and the Drug De-Addiction Centre, Phagwara.

Launched by Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal on June 16 at Navjeevan Kendra and June 20 at Phagwara, the initiative aims to equip participants with employable skills for self-reliance.

Conducted by R-SETI and the District Employment Bureau, the training covered preparation of burgers, sandwiches, momos, pickles, chutneys, pizzas, samosas, spring rolls, and more. Upon completion, participants received certificates from the Ministry of Skill India and R-SETI (affiliated with Punjab National Bank). The administration is providing ongoing guidance and support to help trainees establish self-employment ventures, maintaining contact with them and their families to ensure successful reintegration into society.

In response to growing demand, the Kapurthala de-addiction centre has expanded its capacity by adding 40 beds, bringing the total to 70 at Navjeevan Kendra, with an additional 20 beds available at Phagwara Civil Hospital. Families are increasingly seeking treatment for drug-affected members at these government facilities, reflecting the positive impact of the initiative.
