The 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games—Kurash (Under-14, 17, 19 Boys)—concluded successfully today. The tournament was held under the guidance of Deputy Director (Sports) Sunil Bhardwaj, School Education Department, Punjab and led by National Awardee Dr Gurinderjit Kaur, District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Jalandhar.

On the final day, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary Education) and State Awardee Rajiv Joshi attended as the chief guest, while Principal Yogesh Kumar was present as the special guest. Amandeep Kondal, District Sports Coordinator/DM Sports Jalandhar, also lauded the efforts of Surinder Kumar, Lecturer of Physical Education and tournament in-charge, for the successful management of the event.

Kondal noted that, as per departmental instructions, arrangements for food and accommodation were efficiently handled under the supervision of International Judo Coach Surinder Kumar for all participating players, observers, selectors, referees, team managers and coaches.

Media in-charge Harjit Singh shared the final day’s results across different weight categories. In the Under-19 (45 kg) category, Ankit from Jalandhar secured first place, Manik from Gurdaspur was second and Veer from Fazilka and Sumran from Ludhiana jointly bagged third. In the 50 kg category, Akshat Bharwal (Hoshiarpur) won gold, Yuvraj Jethi (Ludhiana) silver, and Adarsh Kumar (Gurdaspur) and Amandeep (Fazilka) shared bronze.

In the 55 kg category, Mani from Jalandhar took first place, Pulkit Vashisht from Hoshiarpur second, while Raghu Mehra (Gurdaspur) and Jasmeet Singh (Ludhiana) secured joint third.

Jalandhar district won the overall trophy in the Under-17 category due to its strong performance, followed by Gurdaspur and Patiala in second and third positions, respectively. In the Under-19 category, Gurdaspur emerged as overall winner, with Jalandhar and Mohali placing second and third. In the Under-14 category, Gurdaspur claimed the top spot, with Ludhiana finishing second and Jalandhar third.

During the closing ceremony, Chief Guest Rajiv Joshi, Principal Yogesh Kumar, Principal Sukhdev Lal Babbar, Amandeep Kondal, Surinder Kumar (Lecturer, Physical Education), Observer Surinder Pal Singh, Lecturer Iqbal Singh and Selector Surjit Walia awarded medals and overall trophies to the winning students.

Lecturer Surinder Kumar encouraged the medalists to participate in the National Tournament and bring laurels to the state. Selectors present on the occasion included Pawan Kumar, Asha, Uma Dutta, Priya, Nisha, Vishal Sharma, Naresh Kumar and Sulinder Singh.
