Labourer’s daughter shines at 64th National Open Athletics Championship with double medal win
Amandeep’s journey is nothing short of inspirational
Amandeep Kaur, the daughter of a labourer and a domestic worker, has once again proven that determination and hard work can defy all odds. At the 64th National Open Athletics Championship held at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, Amandeep clinched a bronze medal in the 800-metre race, clocking an impressive time of 2:04.78. She also contributed to her team’s performance in the 4×400 metre relay, securing a silver medal.
The young athlete has been making waves in athletics recently. Just two months ago, she brought home a gold in the 800-metre and bronze in the 1500-metre at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event.
Amandeep’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. Coming from a humble background in Moga, Punjab, her father works as a labourer and her mother as a domestic helper. Despite financial hardships, she has remained focused on her goals, drawing support and guidance from her coach, Deepak Kumar from Dasuya, who expressed immense pride in his pupil’s achievements.
“She has consistently pushed her limits and never let circumstances define her,” said Coach Deepak Kumar. “Her performance in Ranchi is another step towards her bright future,” he said.
