Law-cum-Cultural fest begins at Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur, February 7

A three-day Law-cum-Cultural festival ‘Aequitas’20’, organised by University Institute of Legal Studies, situated at Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur, was inaugurated on Friday.

Moot court competition, client counselling and judgment writing competitions will be held during the event. There will be diplomatic swings, mock Punjab Vidhan Sabha and quiz competitions. Fashion show, nukkad natak, bhangra battle and talent hunt will be organised during the festival.

The Inauguration ceremony commenced with lighting of the lamp, welcome dance and felicitation of the guests. Avinash Rai Khanna former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and vice-president, BJP, was the chief guest of the day. He congratulated the participants for their zealous participation and wished them good luck. Addressing the students, Khanna said: “In the era of cut-throat competition. It is important to prepare in accordance with the requirements of the present day.”

“The events like moot court competition, client counselling competition, judgment writing and others enhance the professional skills of the Law students. For the all round development of the students, cultural and extra-cultural activities are helpful for the students to remain calm and cool in the present stressful environment,” added Khanna.

Prof HS Bains, director, PUSSGRC, mentioned that the host institute was not participating in the main events to maintain the sanctity and honesty of the competition.

Faculty convener, Dr Kumari Monika informed all guests and participants about various events. Participants from different states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Port Blair are taking part in the event.

The First Day’s events included the preliminary rounds of the moot court competition, client counselling competition and talent hunt competition. Other events included judgment writing and bhangra battle.
