Jalandhar: The PG department of computer science and application of BD Arya College organised a guest lecture on ‘Cyber Security’ wherein Dr Amit Sharma, Associate Prof, LPU, Phagwara, was the resource person. Addressing the students, he emphasised on the do’s and don’ts of online communication. The talk ended with young minds with discussions on issues of privacy and security in mobile phones and cyber world and precautions that need to be taken to keep safeguard against cyber crimes. Principal Dr Sarita Verma exhorted the students to be aware about the cyber security which had become inevitable in today’s era.

Course on soft skills

Jalandhar: Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology conducted a five-day course on ‘Soft Skills and Academic Communication’ on Thursday. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation from different states. Various scholars and academicians attended the inaugural session. Dr LP Singh emphasised upon the importance of intrapersonal skills and a balance between IQ, emotional quotient and spiritual quotent among the academicians, research scholars and the young technocrats. Dr Pushpinder Syal, Prof, Department of English and Cultural Studies, discussed the significance of linguistic concerns in English.

Award for IVY world school

Jalandhar: It is a proud moment for IVY World School as it has won a position in Fun Toot National Annual Award, in which more than 100 schools had participated. Hargunjot Kaur and Navya of grade VI got the ‘Relentless Funda Star’ certificate. Rakhi Tandon attained the ‘Best funtoot teacher’ of the nation trophy. The school conducted Funtoot Half Yearly Rewards Programme 2019, in which Avni Aggarwal of Class IV and Guntas Kaur of Class V were the tab winners. Principal S Chauhan congratulated the winners and presented the appreciation gifts and certificates to 38 students for achieving the distinction.

Clay modelling

Jalandhar: State Public School organised a clay modelling activity for Nursery to UKG on the school premises. The motive behind organising the competition was to stimulate the imagination of the children and enable them to give it a better shape. Students made beautiful objects with different coloured clay and displayed them. The competition was a perfect platform for the creative minds of the children to meet their colourful desires. Principal Savina Bahl told the students that it was the ardent desire of the school that its blooming buds always explore their talent.

Workshop on IPR

Jalandhar: A one-day awareness workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights: focused upon patents, copyrights, trademarks and industrial designs’ was held for students and faculty members of Pyramid College of Business and Technology. The key objective of this workshop was to sensitise the participants on the basics of the IPR and its role in enhancing the quality of education, innovation and research output, including the commercialisation and impact on societal growth. The workshop intended to constitute a working group of the IPR Cell of Pyramid College, local industries of Phagwara, selected college teachers and the recognised IPR experts to work in synergy to produce such a teaching IPR Manual.

Jasmine tops in semester exams

Jalandhar: Jasmine, a student of BSc Biotechnology (Semester V) from Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has bagged the top position in the Guru Nanak Dev University results declared recently. She bagged the first position in the university by securing 88.57 per cent marks. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated her and appreciated her for hard work.

Punjabi Sahit Utsav concludes

Jalandhar: A two-day International Punjabi Sahit Utsav, organised in collaboration with Punjab Sahit Academy, concluded on Thursday. Darshan Singh Dhillon from UK spoke on the theme of brain drain. The panellists of the session, included Dr Rajenderpal Singh Brar, Dr Surjit Singh, Dr Mohan Tyagi, Dr Rajneesh Bahadur Singh and moderator Dr Neetu Arora. A parallel session with Kirpal Kazak was chaired by novelist Nachattar. The second session was chaired by Des Raj Kali, Editor, Lakeer. A parallel interactive session with author Dr Varyaam Singh Sandhu was chaired by Dr Harbhajan Singh Bhatia, Prof GNDU Amritsar and Dr Bhim Inder Singh Panjabi University, Patiala, was the guest on the occasion. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the Punjabi Department for conducting the event. TNS
