Panic and fear gripped the Dholwaha residential area on Sunday when a leopard entered a room of a farmer’s cattle shed. The residents of the area immediately informed the Forest Department and the administration. Under the direction of DFO, Wildlife, Rajesh Kumar, three teams from the department reached the area and struggled for hours to find the leopard.

Later in the afternoon, the leopard was anesthetised with a traquilising dart gun. He was put in a cage and taken to the Takkhni wildlife sanctuary. According to forest officials, the leopard was in a bad health. He was not in a situation to catch a prey and had an old wound near his neck which had maggots in it. Owing to his bad condition, he was sent to Chhatbir Zoo where the veterinarians will take care of him.
