As part of a series of events organised by the Punjab government to mark the 350th anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur's unparalleled martyrdom, the unique light and sound show, "Hind Di Chadar", based on the life, philosophy and unparalleled martyrdom of Guru Sahib, moved devotees gathered at the local Lajwanti Multipurpose Outdoor Stadium on Saturday evening.
The "Hind Di Chadar" show uniquely presented the voice of truth, justice, charity and human rights raised by Guru Teg Bahadur 350 years ago, along with his beloved Gursikhs, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala, through their unparalleled martyrdom at Chandni Chowk in Delhi.
Before the show, the Dhadi group narrated the stories of the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala, along with the singing of Vars. During the show, the Sangat, comprising children, elderly and the youth, chanted "Dhann Guru Teg Bahadur Ji" and cheered.
Hoshiarpur MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa, Dasuha MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman, DC Ashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik were present on the occasion. Mayor Surinder Kumar, Chairman, Improvement Trust, Gurvinder Singh Pabla, also attended.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Jimpa said that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is commemorating the 350th anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur's martyrdom on a grand scale. As part of a series of events, this 45-minute light and sound show digitally highlights Guru Teg Bahadur's life, legacy, teachings, unique Sikh history and the Guru's great sacrifice.
He said that Guru Teg Bahadur's unique martyrdom was not for any one religion or sect, but for the fundamental rights and dignity of all humanity. He said that the Punjab government is ensuring that information about Guru Teg Bahadur's unique martyrdom reaches every corner of Punjab and the country, so that future generations can draw inspiration and lessons from it.
He further stated that with this show, the Punjab government has initiated state-level celebrations dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, paying homage to the eternal legacy of the Ninth Guru. These celebrations have been organised in such a way that people of all age-group, can participate.
He stated that the celebrations are being held at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25,
as well as religious gatherings at places where the Guru Sahib had touched his feet.
He stated that Nagar Kirtans will be taken out from various locations. One of these Nagar Kirtans will depart from Srinagar and enter Hoshiarpur district on November 21. In a unique initiative by the Punjab government, the Nagar Kirtan will be accorded a magnificent 'Guard of Honour' upon reaching each district.
