Jalandhar: Lights, festivity mark Ram Temple consecration

The city resonated with joy and festivity today as all communities came together to celebrate the consecration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Large screens installed

Large screens were placed at Phagwara Gate, Company Bagh Chowk, Basti area, Guru Nanak Pura, among other locations, allowing people to witness the live telecast of the consecration ceremony at Ayodhya.

Langar at prominent locations

Langar was organised at all prominent locations. Several organisations took out bike rallies and processions to mark the day. As the evening unfolded, people lit diyas at their homes.

At the historical Devi Talab Mandir, an awe inspiring display of 1.21 lakh diyas illuminated the surroundings, creating a breathtaking sight. Besides, religious events were held in residential and commercial areas throughout the day.

The Ram Chowk, a central gathering point in the city, was decorated beautifully, providing a warm backdrop for the day’s celebrations. Large screens were placed at Phagwara Gate, Company Bagh Chowk, Basti area, Guru Nanak Pura, among other locations, allowing people to witness the live telecast of the consecration ceremony at Ayodhya.

Langar was organised at all prominent locations. Several organisations took out bike rallies and processions to mark the day. Besides, the sky was lit up with firecrackers, reflecting the collective joy that permeated the air.

As the evening unfolded, people lit diyas at their homes. Residents took part in puja ceremonies dedicated to Lord Rama. Temples also witnessed an influx of devotees, with many expressing sentiments of gratitude and happiness.

Ramesh, a local shopkeeper, said: “It’s a day of unity and joy for us. We are lucky to have witnessed this historical event.”

Priya, a homemaker, said: “I feel a sense of pride in celebrating the day today. The stories passed down by our elders and the anticipation spanning three decades make the occasion even more meaningful. Witnessing people of all religions in the city coming together to celebrate and organise langar stalls was even more heartwarming experience.”

Langar, processions held in Phagwara

Phagwara: The consecration of Ram Temple at Ayodhya was celebrated with fervour and devotion on Monday. Several temples, including Shri Hanuman Garhi, Shri Bala Ji Dham, Mandir Chorra Khuh, Shri Geeta Mandir, Pathshala Hadiabad and Shiv Mandir Pacca Bagh, in Phagwara were decorated and lamps lit at homes and shops in Phagwara, Nakodar, Phillaur, Goraya, Nurmahal, Banga and Goraya. Huge enthusiasm was witnessed in these towns with more than a hundred langars being organised by different political, social and religious organisations. Shri Ram Sharnam head Ram Krishan Sood organised Amrit Bani Path. Huge processions were taken out yesterday and today at many places in these towns and cities.

Students of the CT Institute of Hospitality Management crafted a replica of Ram Temple. The intricately designed model, standing at 3.5 feet in height and measuring 6 feet by 6 feet in length and width, showcased the students’ dedication and skill. For months, the students invested their time, energy and expertise to breathe life into the project, paying attention to the details of temple architecture.

What sets this replica apart is the commitment to authenticity – no metal has been used in its construction, aligning with the traditional building methods of the actual Ram Mandir. Special emphasis has been placed on recreating the iconic Gopuram, capturing its essence with precision. The colour scheme of the replica replicates the original Ayodhya temple.
