Jalandhar, February 18
Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh, along with MP Sushil Kumar Rinku and MLA Sheetal Anugral, started development works worth Rs 3.75 crore in the city today. These works include construction of two roads, renovation of Dr BR Ambedkar Park in the new Green Model town area and installation of a tube well.
He also laid the foundation stones for renovation and strengthening of two roads having length approximately 2 km at a cost of Rs 81 lakh and Rs 73 lakh, respectively. Besides, a tube well at a cost of Rs 24.32 lakh will also be installed which will provide drinking water to New Green Park, Bootan, Partap Nagar and Punjabi Bagh area.
The minister said inter-city roads would be renovated and strengthened as tender process had already been finalised. Terming development and welfare of people as the priority sector for the Punjab Government, Singh said 600 Aam Aadmi clinics, school of eminence, 1076 helpline for citizen-centric services and “Ghar Ghar Ration” scheme have provided relief to the masses.
The minister said the government was working towards the development of all sections of society. The minister also listened to the grievances of people and issued necessary instructions to the officials to redress their problems.
The minister also asked Municipal Corporation officials to monitor development works to ensure their timely completion.
