An absconding accused in the Lohian gangrape case has been arrested by the Jalandhar rural police.
The police had earlier arrested three accused in the gruesome gang rape case of a mother and daughter in a room in a field at Lohian in the wee hours of November 24. While the three accused were adults, the fourth accused is a minor.
Informing the press about the gangrape case, SSP, Jalandhar rural, Harvinder Singh Virk said around 12.30 am, a migrant woman and daughter (aged 35 and 19), living in a village in Lohian, were gang-raped repeatedly by four persons at gunpoint.
The woman's son-in-law and his 5-month-old child along with two more children had been held hostage in a separate room while the heinous crime was carried out by the four men.
Shockingly, one of the rapists was a minor.
A case had been registered on November 24 and action was initiated.
While three accused (aged between 18.5 and 19 years) were arrested by the Lohian police on November 29. The trio arrested days ago were held along with two motorcycles and weapons used in the incident.
The SSP said a minor, aged 14, involved in the case has now been arrested. Legal action is being taken against the minor as per the rules of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), he added.
The investigation in the case is going on at a fast pace and further action is being taken.
