Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Virtusa, headquartered in the US. On this occasion, a ‘Virtusa Centre of Excellence’ was also inaugurated at LPU’s School of Computer Engineering at the university. The pact will further help in strengthening LPU’s academia-industry connection, especially in the area of new domains of information technology, including the ‘Google Cloud Platform’. On behalf of Virtusa, MoU was signed by its Senior Vice-President and Global Delivery Head Mohit Sharma. Interacting with LPU students, Sharma guided students about the ‘Virtusa Student Ambassador Programme’, and informed them that it is a unique opportunity for students to commence a long-lasting relationship with Virtusa. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta said LPU had already collaborated with more than 50 technology companies for students’ involvement the industry. Industry projects provide LPU students insights into the latest trends in the corporate world and help them become competitive and ready for real corporate challenges.
DPS organises farewell party
Delhi Public School bid a fond farewell to the outgoing Class XII batch of 2021-22 with great enthusiasm. The evening was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Aashirwad Sandhu and Saksham Arora. It was followed by momentos being presented to the outgoing students by the teachers. The highlight of the function was the beautiful cultural presentation. The students of Class XII (2022-23) put forth a mix of scintillating dance performances, entertaining theatre, melodious songs and pulsating music that rocked the auditorium. Various fun games involving the students were also played. Stand up comedy tickled the funny bone of the audience. The outgoing batch delivered speeches expressing gratitude to their mentors and teachers for their invaluable contribution in making the journey a memorable one.
Girls shine in PSEB class 10 exams
Students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden, have brought a good result. A total of 224 girls appeared, of whom 14 got 90 per cent and above marks, 63 got 80 per cent and more. Avantika got 96.6 per cent, missing merit with only one mark. Ganga Gupta and Samiti Bhagat got 95.3 per cent, and Apurva Yadav came third getting 94.7 per cent.
St Soldier students bring laurels
Students of St Soldier Inter College, Friends Colony, performed excellent in 10th results declared by Punjab School Education Board. Students Diksha secured first position in the institution by securing 90% marks, Suhani stood second with 89% marks, Kumar Gaurav stood third with 81% marks. Congratulating all the students and their parents, Principal Manginder Singh said all the students of Class X have passed with good marks and result is 100 percent. Chairman Anil Chopra, Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra, while congratulating the staff members and students, asked them to work hard in the future to make the name of the institution proud and said all kinds of facilities are provided by the institution to the students for their education.
Trip to Wonderland organised
A one-day trip to Wonderland was organised for the students of HMV Collegiate Sr Sec School under the guidance of Principal Prof Ajay Sareen. Students of science stream spent an amazing time at Wonderland which provided them a break from the routine of classes. The students enjoyed infinity room, horror house, boating and tempting lunch. Their main source of enjoyment was slides in water park. They played and splashed in water and had an awesome time. The trip was memorable and eventful. The students clicked selfies to cherish the memories throughout their lives. Principal Prof Dr Sareen congratulated Collegiate School Coordinator and staff for organising the trip.
DIPS Chain fare well in exams
The students of DIPS Chain (GB Public School) brought laurels to the series by securing good marks in the 10th examination conducted by the Punjab Board. In PSEB board declared results Kiran got 83.9, Arshdeep Singh 82.7, Shamsher Singh 82.2, Jasmin Kaur 81.5, Ramandeep Kaur 81.1 percentile. The result of all the students of Dips GB Public Dhilwan and Begowal School was 100% in the examination and all passed the board examination with good marks. MD Tarwinder Singh congratulated the parents and teachers and encouraged the children that getting good marks has now opened the doors of better fields for them in future.
Classes on Home decor held
Apeejay College of Fine Arts conducted skill enhancement classes of ‘Home Decor with Waste material’ where students learned creative and attractive home decoration art from scrap. These classes were organised for the students of 10+2 to make various creative and attractive showpieces to decorate their homes beautifully. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra said every creature in the creation of God is born with some talent and there is a need to provide them with the right opportunities to nurture that talent, and through these skill enhancement classes, it has been our endeavour to provide such opportunities to the students to develop their skills according to their accompaniment. Rajni Kumar acquainted the students with the basic knowledge of home decoration in ‘Home decor with Waste material’ classes. She gave the students tips to understand 2-D and 3-D drawing of residences, provided them with the information about making isometric and perspective of room.
Activities for Pre-primary wing
Pre-primary activities were organised at Eklavya School to encourage the children by saying that doing activities are good for enhancing the knowledge. Tiny tots of Eklavya School performed various activities related to academics. Students of UKG Class did cotton swab activity and enjoyed alot doing this activity. Students of LKG Class made sun with matchsticks. Director Seema Handa said pre-primary activities open windows to settle the inquisitiveness in the child in positive way. Students of Nursery class did colouring in fruits and vegetables. Educator Shakun Saluja did physical activities with students like yoga, meditation and explained that physical activities are very essential for good health. Skill Development course organised
The Department of Education, Doaba College, organised a 15-day value-added Skill Development Course entitled ‘New Life after School” for 10+2 students of various schools. The purpose of this course was to prepare the students for the challenges they are going to face while pursuing higher education. For this purpose a feel was given to students about the various aspects of college life. Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari said the content of the Skill Development Course included Art and Craft Skills like Flower Making and Bottle Decoration, Psychology based experiments such as Mirror Drawing Test, Human Maze Learning, and Memory Testing through Memory Drum, and Preparation of Teaching Leaning Material (TLMs) such as Models and Charts. In addition to these, talks were organised on positive attitude, personality development, career oriented competitive exams and environment awareness by expert faculty members. Special interactive sessions were organised to bring out the hidden talent of the students. An educational movie “Chalk and Duster” was also shown to the students and analyzed by the expert teacher from teaching-learning point of view. On the completion of the Skill Development Course, certificates were given to all the participants in a specially arranged Valedictory Function. Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari and Dr Avinash Chander -Head applauded the efforts of Prof Manjeet Kaur, Coordinator of the Skill Development Course, and faculty members and wished them all the best for the future endeavors.
DAV’s suman 1st in MA (Political Science)
Hoshiarpur: DAV College, Hoshiarpur, Principal Prof (Dr) Vinay Kumar informed that in Panjab University, Chandigarh, result of MA 1st semester, Political Science, Suman Bala, secured first position in the institution, scoring 345 (86.25%) marks out of 400, Bandhna at the same, secured 2nd position having 336.i.e. 84% marks. Simranpreet Kaur stood third having 318 i.e. 79.5 % marks. College managing committee president Dr Anoop Kumar and secretary DL Anand conveyed wishes to the meritorious students.
