LPU celebrates onset of Xmas festivity with fruit maceration event
The School of Hotel Management and Tourism at Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated the arrival of the Christmas season and the upcoming New Year with its annual Fruit Maceration Ceremony. The event, a testament to the “art of flavours”, beautifully captured the festive spirit.
The traditional cake-mixing ceremony, an integral pre-Christmas ritual, marked the preparation of the season’s much-anticipated fruit cakes. This age-old process enhances the flavour and texture of fruits, which are later used as key ingredients in the cakes. During the ceremony, students demonstrated their culinary skills by macerating an assortment of fruits such as raisins, dates, cherries and nuts in rich liquids and aromatic spices.
A delightful highlight of the event was the appearance of a student dressed as Santa Claus, who spread cheer by distributing chocolates to attendees, adding to the festive fervour. Traditional Christmas carols and spirited dances performed by students further enhanced the celebratory atmosphere, filling the campus with joy and melodies.
This year’s ceremony held special significance as LPU embraced its diverse student body, showcasing the university’s inclusive and vibrant community.
