Sports Hostel-Lucknow defeated Eknoor Academy-Tehang by 8-2 and Naval Tata Academy-Jamshedpur defeated Major Dhyan Chand Sports College-Safai by 2-1 in the 18th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament for Mata Prakash Kaur Cup (Under-19 Boys). Today was the second day of the tournament, which is being held at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium.
In the first league match in Pool C, Sports Hostel-Lucknow put on the best performance. Muhammad Atif scored a goal in the second minute of the game for Lucknow and made the score 1-0. In the 5th minute, Himashu Bansal of Eknoor Academy scored to make the score 1-1.
Mohammad Atif, in the 10th minute of the game, Shahrukh Khan, in the 19th and 38th minutes, scored to give Lucknow a 4-1 lead. Akhil Mehmi of Eknoor Academy scored in the 49th minute to make the score 2-4. Ketan Khushwaha in the 53rd minute of the game, Shahrukh Khan in the 56th minute, Ketan Khushwaha in the 57th and 58th minutes won the match by scoring 8-2. Lucknow’s Ketan Khushwaha was adjudged the man of the match.
In the second league match in Pool B, teams from Odisha Naval Tata High Performance Centre-Bhubaneswar and SGPC Academy-Amritsar put up an excellent performance. In the 22nd minute of the game, Likan Oran of Odisha scored to make the score 1-0. Shuhveer Singh in the 40th minute and Jagjit Singh in the 45th minute scored to give SGPC Academy a 2-1 lead. Bilkal Oran of Odisha scored a goal in the 57th minute of the game to equalise 2-2. As the match was tied, both the teams got one point each. SGPC’s Harshdeep Singh was declared the man of the match.
The third league match was played in Pool C between Naval Tata Hockey Academy-Jamshedpur and Major Dhyan Chand Sports College-Safai. In the 20th minute of the game, Pralad Rajbhar of Jamshedpur made the score 1-0. In the 24th minute of the game, Safai’s Himashu Yadav scored to make the score 1-1. Jolan Topno of Jamshedpur scored a goal in the 40th minute of the game to make the score 2-1.
By winning this match, Jamshedpur has gained three points. Jolan Topno of Jamshedpur was declared the best player of the match.
