Jalandhar: The PG Department of Computer Science and IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised Plasma 2024, an inter-college competition. Prof Sanjeev Kumar Anand, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, informed that 293 students from 17 colleges participated in a total of 13 events. Events like Tech GD, Ad Mad Show, Hands on Keyboard, Test Your Technical Skills, Logic Whirlpool, Net Savvy, Idea Snapshots, IT Quiz online, IT in Colours, Web Portal Development, RJying, Logo Designing, Pixel Plus were conducted during the event. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh highlighted the key achievements of the college in IT education and said that these events aim to provide a podium to students to showcase their talent. The overall trophy in the event was bagged by the Lyallpur Khalsa College with 28 points. The second position was won jointly by KMV and Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering with 17 points and the third position was awarded to Lyallpur Khalsa College, Kapurthala, with 16 points.

From campus to corporate

Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) announced placement of 18 of its students with Subros Ltd, a leading player in the automotive air-conditioning systems industry. Comprising nine students from industrial and production engineering, three from mechanical engineering and six MBA graduates, the achievement underscores the institute’s dedication to nurturing talent across various disciplines. Prof BK Kanaujia, Director, Ajay Gupta, Head, Kamaljit, Placement Officer, alongside Dr OP Verma, Placement Coordinator, lauded the diligence and determination of students in the recruitment process.

honour for college

DAV College Jalandhar has been bestowed with the Bharat Seva Puraskaar by the Veyil Foundation. The recognition is attributed to the college’s dedication for imparting contemporary knowledge alongside venerable Vedic traditions to the youth of India. The college has reached its 106th year since inception. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar has congratulated the staff and students of DAV College.

one-day Educational trip

A one-day educational trip was organised by PG Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya to the Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, and gurdwara at Sultanpur Lodhi under the DBT-Star College scheme. The students of BA/BSc and MSc (Mathematics) were the beneficiaries. The contingent of 51 students was led by two faculty members, Dr Deepali and Charanjeet Kaur. The trip to Science City helped students gain knowledge of maths, science, biology and other subjects, making science simple and interesting. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the faculty of mathematics.

Dictation activity

Eklavya School organised dictation activity in the school. Class 4 and 5 students participated in various English dictation activities such as fractions and tables. Chairperson JK Gupta and Director of the school Seema Handa said dictation provides a chance for an adult to model writing behaviours including handwriting, matching sound-to-letter to spell words, and sentence formation. Administrator Dimple Malhotra of the school said dictation offers a way for a parent or a teacher to record a child’s thoughts or ideas when the writing demands skills.

Three-day painting workshop

A three-day workshop was organised by the PG Department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts in which internationally renowned artist Dr Vijay M Dhore was present. Seeing Dr Vijay’s artistic proficiency, Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra said that the students have benefited from it. Dr Vijay said, “Art works as therapy. In fact, with art, you can express your inner emotions which can be very soothing and with time, you will see that as an artist, you will grow not just professionally but personally as well.” He asserted that art too has gone through a lot of changes with time. Today, sculpture, graphics and paintings are all variants of art and in all these art forms, role of drawing is essential. He added that true art cannot be defined in words but can only be perceived and felt.
