Jalandhar, August 24
Two students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jarmanpreet Singh and Sukhjit Singh, were part of the Paris Olympics bronze medal winning Indian hockey team. The college hosted an event to honour them at the campus on Friday.
The programme was presided over by Jaspal Singh Waraich, joint secretary, Governing Council. He was assisted by Olympian Sanjiv Kumar and Avtar Singh from Surjit Hockey Academy. In his opening address, Principal Dr Jaspal Singh lauded the efforts of the players at the international level. He briefly narrated the history and legacy of hockey players of the college and added that the college has been adding new milestones in its already rich legacy of sports as two of its players, Princedeep Singh and Arshdeep Singh, are attending Junior National Hockey camp.
The college provided mementos and cash prizes to the Olympic bronze medalist Jarmanpreet Singh and junior national hockey player Princedeep Singh on the occasion.
