Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal has urged the residents to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, emphasising its role in fostering a physically and mentally resilient society. He was addressing a large gathering at the district-level event organised to mark International Yoga Day at Dharm Sabha Ground in Kapurthala on Saturday.
The event witnessed participation from hundreds of people, including senior administrative officials, law enforcement personnel, and residents from across the district, who collectively engaged in an hour-long yoga session in the open.
“Yoga has been a timeless contribution of India to the world, offering immense benefits for physical wellness, mental clarity, and emotional balance,” said the Deputy Commissioner. He highlighted how the global recognition of yoga, celebrated every year on June 21, reflects its universal relevance and enduring value.
Prior to the official address, Panchal led the yoga demonstration session along with Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora, MC Commissioner Anupam Kler, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Navneet Kaur Ball, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Varinderpal Singh Bajwa.
Yoga Day celebrated in Phillaur
The NSS unit and the Red Ribbon Club of DRV DAV Centenary College, Phillaur, commemorated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation. The event was organised under the guidance of the NSS Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
The yoga session was conducted under the leadership of yoga master Hoshiar Singh with demonstrations and instructions provided by Inder Kumar and Rashmi. NSS volunteers and students from both the college and DAV Collegiate School actively participated in the session.
