Man held with heroin in Kapurthala
The Kapurthala police have arrested a man and seized heroin from his possession. The operation was conducted as part of the district administration's intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
The arrest was made by a police team led by Inspector Jasvir Singh, operating under the supervision of Superintendent of Police(Investigation) Prabhjot Singh Virk. The accused has been identified as Rajinder Singh, also known as Jindu, and a resident of Togawal village in the Sadar Kapurthala area.
According to officials, the team recovered 7 gram of heroin from the accused. A case has been registered against him on dated May 11, at Thana Sadar Kapurthala under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
SSP Gaurav Toora reiterated the police’s resolve to combat the drug menace through sustained enforcement and community participation. He appealed to the public to support law enforcement by sharing any drug-related information on the government’s helpline chatbot number 9779100200, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
The SSP also highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in tackling the drug problem, encouraging citizens to remain vigilant and take part in awareness and prevention efforts to ensure a healthier, drug-free Punjab.
