A police team led by Inspector Surinder Kumar, Jalandhar CIA staff in-charge, apprehended one person with an illegal firearm. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dhanpreet Kaur said the CIA-staff team had laid a naka under the Transport Nagar bridge. During checking, the team apprehended a suspicious individual for questioning. He was identified as Sagar Masih, alias Bagi, a resident of Christian Mohalla, Kahnuwan, Gurdaspur.
Upon searching, the police recovered one .32 bore pistol and four live cartridges from his possession. An FIR under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused at the Division No. 8 police station. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Manpreet Singh Dhillon, DCP (Investigation), Jayant Puri, ADCP (Investigation) and Amarbir Singh ACP (D). The public has been urged to promptly report any information regarding illegal or suspicious activities to the police by contacting the helpline number 112.
