Man held with illegal weapon

A police team led by Inspector Surinder Kumar, Jalandhar CIA staff in-charge, apprehended one person with an illegal firearm. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dhanpreet Kaur said the CIA-staff team had laid a naka under the Transport Nagar bridge. During checking, the team apprehended a suspicious individual for questioning. He was identified as Sagar Masih, alias Bagi, a resident of Christian Mohalla, Kahnuwan, Gurdaspur.

Upon searching, the police recovered one .32 bore pistol and four live cartridges from his possession. An FIR under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused at the Division No. 8 police station. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Manpreet Singh Dhillon, DCP (Investigation), Jayant Puri, ADCP (Investigation) and Amarbir Singh ACP (D).
