Hoshiarpur, August 27

With the aim of spreading awareness against drugs and giving healthy guidance to the young generation, a special 5 km marathon was organised by the district police and district administration Hoshiarpur today. Meanwhile, separate marathons were organized for men and women. The run started from the Police Line Ground and passed through various prominent places in the city and ended back at the Police Line Ground. Around 3,000 contestants participated in the marathon.

Cabinet Minister Punjab Bram Shankar Jimpa, Lok Sabha MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal and Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Rouri flagged off the marathon. Jalandhar Range DIG Naveen Singla, District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal awarded the winners with certificates and cash prizes.

In his address, Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa praised this awareness campaign against drugs and said that it is very important to organize such programs to protect our society and especially the youth from the scourge of drugs. Lok Sabha MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal said such awareness campaigns against drugs play an important role in our society.

In the marathon, Harjodhvir Singh of Dasuya, Lovepreet Singh of Ferozepur and Prabhjot Singh of Sangrur came first. These three players were given a cash prize of Rs 5,100 each.

Rinku of Fazilka, Sukhwinder Singh, Lakshyadeep Singh of Tanda, Shamsher Singh of Jalandhar and Amritpal Singh of Tarn Taran came second. These five players were given a cash prize of Rs 3,100 each.

Arun of Hoshiarpur, Kuldeep of Fazilka, Gagandeep Singh of Amritsar, Shubham of Batala, Neeraj of SBS Nagar, Jatinder Singh of Tanda, Mohit of Hoshiarpur, Harshdeep Singh, Vansh of Pathankot and Bharat of Batala came third. These ten players were given a cash prize of Rs 1,100 each.

Similarly, among girls, Mandeep Kaur of Dasuya came first. She was given a cash prize of Rs 5,100. Amandeep Kaur and Pooja of Dasuya came second and were given a cash prize of Rs 3,100. Similarly, Inderjot Kaur of SBS Nagar, Jaspreet Kaur of Dasuya, Jiya, Ananya and Sukhwinder Kaur of Fazilka came third. These five players were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1,100 each.
