Three masked assailants robbed petrol pump employees at gun point. The trio fired four or five shots in the air to scare employees and then looted them of their cash and valuables. Due to sporting masks and their bike plates bearing fake numbers, the masked assailants couldn't be caught so far.

The incident took place between 7 pm and 7.15 pm on Tuesday evening.

The frequency of such incidents in the region can be gauged from the fact that one more petrol pump was looted in the city, just a day after the Adampur incident.

The incident took place at the Jalandhar-Jammu highway when three masked men on a bike attacked a petrol station at Nizamuddinpur. In the CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral, three masked men go turn by turn to employees of the petrol pump and workers are seen handing over money to them after their fire aerial shots.

Petrol station owner Pushpinder Singh said, "Three masked men came to the petrol station around 7 pm and started firing. They fired shots to threaten the employees to give money. We informed the Alawalpur police station, 20 minutes after which a police team reached the station. But until then, the men had fled."

No one was injured in the incident, he added. The police started action to locate the men.

He said, "We request the police that patrolling here and surrounding areas be increased in view of these incidents."

DSP, Adampur, Kulwant Singh said, "Daily 45 to 50 men in the area have been deputed to act against bikers without number as well as triple riders and strict action is being taken against such elements. Nakas are also being laid."

Asked about the repeated threat from gangs using bikes without numbers, the DSP added, "Our teams are on the job 24X7 to watch and nab such elements. This is a problem being posed across areas. However, we are taking strict action against those violating the law."
