The Phagwara Municipal Corporation has announced an extension of the deadline for its One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme 2025, allowing property owners to clear their pending principal property tax without any penalty or interest until August 15, 2025. The initiative aims to provide financial relief to residents and promote timely tax compliance.
According to Mayor Ram Pal Uppal and Commissioner Dr Akshita Gupta, the scheme has been introduced under the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 and the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976. It applies to individuals who have either not paid or have only partially paid their property taxes. The OTS policy provides an opportunity to settle outstanding dues in a lump sum without the burden of additional fines or interest.
Taxpayers who pay the full principal tax amount by August 15 will receive a complete waiver of all penalties and interest. Those who make payments between August 16 and October 31, 2025, will be eligible for a 50 per cent waiver on penalties and interest. However, after October 31, no exemptions will be provided, and dues will be recovered under standard legal provisions, which include the imposition of full penalties and interest.
Officials emphasised that this is a valuable opportunity for residents to settle their dues without facing extra financial pressure. Citizens are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the extended deadline and avoid additional charges by clearing their property tax arrears on time.
