MC told to identify land for garbage dump

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal on Monday held detailed discussions with officials of the civic body to take stock of cleanliness in the city, besides directing them to come up with a plan to solve the pending garbage dump site issue of the local municipal corporation.

In a meeting with MC Commissioner Anupam Kler, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Amardeep Singh Gujral, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Irwin Kaur and other officials, DC Panchal said a chunk of land for the dump site should be identified, which could be earmarked for garbage dump after getting the required process done. He said the MC, in association with other departments, should take up this matter on priority so as to ensure its resolution within a short span of time.

Kler apprised the DC that the MC was finding a suitable piece of land to unload the garbage-laden vehicles from across the city. The issue would be brought to the notice of senior officials of the Local Government Department and the state government for getting it resolved.
