Dasuya, January 30

On Monday night, the owner of Bajaj Motorcycle agency located at Balaggan Chowk in Dasuya reportedly shot dead Gurpreet Singh, a mechanic working there.

The Case

Raj Singh said his nephew Gurpreet Singh was working as a mechanic at a motorcycle agency at Dasuya. On Monday, he went to the agency to take Gurpreet along with him to the village. When Gurpreet asked agency owner Prabhsimran Singh that he wanted to go with his uncle, Prabhsimran said he could not leave before finishing the work. Prabhasimran started abusing him and the argument between the duo escalated. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran got infuriated and fired a bullet which hit Gurpreet in the chest. The bike agency owner later reportedly fled the spot with the pistol.

The police have registered a case against the accused and arrested him. A local court granted him two-day police remand.

In the statement given to the police, deceased’s uncle Raj Singh, a resident of Odra village, said that his nephew Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Odra, aged about 19 years, was working as a mechanic in the motorcycle agency Dasuya for the last three years. He said on Monday at around 5.30 pm, he was going from Dasuya to Odra village on his scooter. He went to the agency to take his nephew Gurpreet Singh along with him to the village.

He said when he reached there, his nephew was changing clothes to go to the village. When he started to go after changing his clothes, agency owner Prabhsimran Singh asked him to finish his work before leaving for the village. When his nephew refused, Prabhasimran started abusing him and the quarrel between the two escalated. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran got infuriated and fired a bullet from his licensed pistol which hit Gurpreet in the chest. After this the bike agency owner reportedly ran away with the pistol. The complainant claimed that he took his nephew to the Civil Hospital, Dasuya, where doctors declared Gurpreet Singh dead. After registering a case, the police have arrested the accused. After postmortem, the police handed over the body of the deceased to his family members.
