Medical associtation honours Ayurvedic physician

Dr Jawahar Dhir honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

The Phagwara branch of the National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) has conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award on renowned author and senior Ayurvedic physician Dr Jawahar Dhir at a ceremony held under the chairmanship of NIMA president Dr Neeraj Abbhi.

The honour was presented to Dr Dhir in recognition of his recent national and international accolades, including the “Dhanvantari Award – 2025” bestowed by the Punjab Government’s Ayurvedic Department and the international literary distinction “Vishva Hindi Sahitya Sadhna Vibhushanam” awarded by the UK-based Hindi magazine Kavitavali.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neeraj Abbhi said Dr Dhir’s achievements both as a distinguished writer and a successful physician had brought pride not only to the medical fraternity but also to Punjab and the international literary community.

“It is an honour for NIMA that Dr Dhir is one of its senior-most members. His accomplishments inspire us all,” he added.

Expressing gratitude, Dr Jawahar Dhir said, “NIMA is like my family and receiving this honour on this platform is a moment of great pride for me.”

Former NIMA Phagwara president Dr Yash Chopra highlighted Dr Dhir’s contributions, noting that 17 of his books have been published so far.

He recalled that Dr Dhir had earlier been felicitated by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The recent honours received by Dr Dhir are a matter of pride not just for NIMA but for the entire city of Phagwara, he added.

During the ceremony, Dr Dhir was presented with a shawl, memento and pen by senior doctors, including Dr Neeraj Abbhi, Dr Amit Sharma, Dr Nikhil Khosla, Dr BS Bhatia, Dr Ramanjit Singh Kinda, Dr Vivek Mahajan, Dr Rakesh Khosla and Dr Ajay Ohri.

The event was attended by a large number of doctors, including NIMA Women’s Forum chairperson Dr Anubha Ohri.
