Medical officer, CHC staff assaulted in Tarn Taran

The Harike police have booked five persons under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for creating hooliganism and threatening Medical Officer Dr Jaspreet Singh and the staff of Community Health Centre, Harike, on Monday. ASI Balbir Singh informed that the accused have been identified as Jaskaran Singh, his brother Gurwinder Singh besides Joginder Pal Vedi, Gurdev Singh Bai and Hardial Singh, residents of Harike.

Dr Jaspreet Singh, Medical Officer of the Community Health Centre, Harike, in a complaint to the police said that the accused manhandled him and his staff and threatened to kill them. The accused had also entered into a tiff with the patients. Dr Jaspreet Singh said that the accused Jaskaran Singh had come for a check-up when he was busy treating another patient. In a fit of anger, he again came to the health centre with the other accused and created a ruckus with the patients, staff and the Medical Officer.

ASI Balbir Singh said that a case under Section 353, 186, 323, 506 and 149 of IPC has been registered against the accused who are absconding.
