As part of the Punjab Government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, a special meeting was held at the residence of Ward No 6 Councillor Rishu in Goraya. The meeting was attended by Halqa in-charge principal Prem Kumar, chairman of the Goraya Municipal Council Harmesh Lal Mechi, block president Sudesh Kumar Billa and Phillaur Halqa coordinator Pankaj Rai Bhardwaj.

Residents of the ward gave a warm welcome to the dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Rishu praised the Punjab Government and police for their sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs, stressing that such action must continue to protect the youth and rehabilitate affected individuals. She also thanked the government, principal Prem Kumar and chairman Harmesh Lal for their support in the ongoing development works in the ward.

Principal Kumar highlighted that after conducting meetings in 143 villages of the constituency, the campaign had now reached Goraya city. He said the large turnout in Ward No 6 reflected the community’s strong commitment to standing with the government in its fight against drugs and other welfare initiatives.

Social activist Monika Sharma also commended the government’s work and expressed gratitude to Rishu. In his concluding remarks, Munish Bawa thanked ward residents, city dwellers, shopkeepers, Inner Wheel Club of Goraya, Punjab Government and the Punjab DGP for their cooperation and support.

The event saw the presence of several notable figures, including Councillor Manoj Gogna, chairman Roshan Lal Roshi, Shri Radha Krishna Charitable Society Gita Bhawan president Ajay Mata, Satish Sidana, Councillor Navjot Kaur Manota, Sanjeev Heer, Sunil Manota, Palwinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Ajwinder Singh, wrestler Jarnail Singh, Vivek Gupta, Rajinder Prasad Goyal, Rajkumar, Shiv Gaurav Kaushal, Advocate Inderjeet Verma, Uddham Singh Ubbi, Mandeep Rai, Narinder Verma, Surjit Ubbi, Pradeep Bhardwaj, Gurdeep Singh and many others.
