Under the Sampark initiative, a special meeting was convened in the Model Town market area to enhance police-public relations and address key concerns of the business community.
The meeting brought together representatives from various market associations and shop owners to discuss safety, security and other challenges faced by vendors and customers.
The session was led by Sukhwinder Singh, ADCP HQs and Sirivennela ASP Model Town, who engaged with market stakeholders to find collaborative solutions for creating a safer and more efficient commercial environment.
During the interaction, market associations raised issues related to theft, shoplifting and occasional violent incidents. Police officials assured increased patrolling and surveillance to enhance safety. Traffic congestion and improper parking, which often disrupt business activities, were also discussed.
The police urged shop owners to cooperate in ensuring customer vehicles were parked in designated areas to ease congestion.
Crime prevention measures such as community policing, neighbourhood watch programmes and better coordination for faster reporting of incidents were highlighted. Business owners were encouraged to install CCTV cameras to bolster security.
Additionally, the police committed to improving emergency response systems, particularly for violent incidents and medical emergencies.
Police officials assured market representatives that their concerns would be addressed promptly and pledged to hold regular meetings in the future.
"The ongoing interactions are expected to strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and the business community", police officials said.
