Mega health camp benefits hundreds in Hoshiarpur

A Mega Health Care Camp was organised at Police Lines, Hoshiarpur under the guidance of SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, IPS, and the leadership of Dr Aasheesh Mehan, Medical Officer, District Police. The initiative was supported by Vardhman Yarns and Threads Ltd. as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, along with the World Cancer Care NGO.

The day-long camp witnessed participation from nearly 400 beneficiaries, including police personnel, their families and members of the general public. A wide range of free medical services were provided, including cancer screening, mammography, pap smear, PSA tests, blood investigations, dental and oral check-ups, bone mineral density tests, ortho and eye consultations, as well as distribution of medicines and spectacles.

The camp recorded a total of 394 beneficiaries and conducted 22 awareness sessions. Among the 122 oral check-ups, 14 abnormal findings were detected. A total of 301 bone density tests were performed, with 156 individuals found to have low bone mineral density. Blood sugar and blood pressure tests were carried out for 395 individuals, revealing 67 cases of high sugar, 12 new diabetes diagnoses, and 49 instances of high blood pressure. Eye screenings were conducted for 290 people, resulting in the distribution of 281 free spectacles.

SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik inaugurated the camp and praised the collaborative efforts of the police department, Vardhman Group, and World Cancer Care NGO. Dignitaries from Vardhman and a 25-member medical team from the NGO actively participated in the camp, ensuring smooth execution and comprehensive care.

Dr Aasheesh Mehan expressed his gratitude to all supporting partners and assured that similar health initiatives would continue to be organised in the future for the welfare of police personnel and the public.
