A mega medical camp, dubbed the Medical Maha Kumbh, was organised by the Human Rights Press Club in Kapurthala, drawing a massive turnout of 2,000 patients and offering a range of unprecedented medical services. The event brought together 10 to 12 doctors under one roof, providing facilities worth crores, including blood donation, eye donation, free cancer check-ups, free sugar tests and free medicines.
The event saw 2,000 patients receive medical check-ups and free medicines. Additionally, 50 people donated their eyes during the eye donation camp, setting a new precedent in Kapurthala. Saints from various faiths attended and blessed the attendees, further adding to the event’s significance.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anupam Kaler inaugurated the camp. Kaler praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of providing free medical care to those who cannot afford treatment. Chief Medical Officer Richa lauded the overwhelming response, particularly noting the large number of people who filled out eye donation forms, including a doctor couple from Kapurthala who donated their eyes.
Arun Khosla, the president of the Kapurthala Working Journalist Association and patron of the Human Rights Press Club, also donated his eyes. Deputy Commissioner Amit Panchal participated in the event and congratulated Advocate Suket Gupta, the president of the Human Rights Press Club, for organising the event. Panchal visited the camp, urging blood donors and commended the vice-president, Rajinder Raju, for donating blood for the 103rd time and the president, Suket Gupta, for his 59th donation.
Doctors from the World Cancer Care Society, along with members of the SBI Credit Card team and staff from the Kapurthala Civil Hospital Blood Bank, including doctors, pathologists, lab technicians and medical experts, volunteered their services for the camp.
The DC also recognised the city police station in-charge, Vikramjit Singh, for his efforts in ensuring swift justice for the community.
Religious figures, including Mahatma Muni Kheda Bet, Maha Mandaleshwar Sant Kamal Kishore, Astrologer Rohit Kumar, Mahamandaleshwar Shri Om Yogi and Sant Avtar Singh Mukhi of Dera Baba Vidhi Chand Sursingh Wale, were among those who participated in the camp.
Human Rights Press Club members Suket Gupta, Rajinder Raju, Manoj Ratti, BN Gupta, Joginder Pal Arora, Rajbir Bawa, Arun Khosla, Akash Kapoor, Piyush Manchanda, Harish Arora, Tarun Paruthi and Gurpreet Gopi, among others were also present at the event.
