Talking to Jalandhar Tribune, Mehtab said the moment she saw her result on the website, she got emotional and cried. “I couldn’t believe that I scored 99.8 per cent marks. I was expecting to score somewhat near 95 per cent. I am happy that I lived up to the expectations of my teachers and family and made them proud,” she said.

She further said she didn’t follow a hard schedule or timetable during the exams and has not put any pressure on herself for marks. “Self-study was my key to success; besides smart work helped me a lot. It was never like all study and no entertainment; rather I used to dedicate one hour daily to watching movies, talking to my friends etc.,” she said.

Mehtab also thanked her elder brother Bhavnoor Singh and said his guidance and tips worked for her. She said she has now decided to take medical stream in Class XI and wants to become a doctor like her mother and father.

Sharing his success mantra, Raghav Arora, said: “Studying well and in an organised manner is the best approach to secure well. The key is to maintain consistency and not leave things for the last hour. I also used to talk to my friends while studying or used to play games to refresh myself. Besides, I strongly feel that one should never burden oneself with syllabus and prefer reading chapters one by one with a calm mind.” He said he has now taken non-medical stream in Class XI, and wants to become an engineer.

“Obeying to teachers and carefully listening to whatever is being taught in the class was my success mantra,” said Yashit Verma, whose father Harsh Kumar Verma is a professor at NIT-Jalandhar. He said he chose non-medical stream and wants to become an engineer.
