The 33rd annual Mela Gadri Babian Da scheduled to be organised at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall from November 7 to 9 will have activist Arundhati Roy and News Click founder Prabir Purakayastha delivering keynote addresses in the last session.

President of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall Committee Ajmer Singh, general secretary Prithipal Singh and convener Amolak Singh said the mela has been themed around the struggle against ‘corporate exploitation and fascism’.

They said that the mela would open with a painting and photography exhibition, followed by a symposium on book culture and homage to theatre artiste Kailash Kaur, poets Surjit Patar and Harbans Hion, lyricist Amarjit Pardesi and singer Kuldeep Jhalur. The last day will open with the traditional ceremony of hoisting the flag of Ghadarites by committee member Hardev Arshi. A theatre and musical night wherein plays like ‘Poster’, ‘Dharti di Dhee’, ‘Gumshuda Aurat’, ‘Rakha’, ‘Haner Nagri’ and ‘Bhand Mele Aaye’ shall be staged.
