MHA takes cognisance of student’s petition on men’s rights

Coming as a new milestone, the petition of an eighth semester student of CT Institute of Law, Shahpur, advocating the introduction of a ‘Men Protection Act’ has been officially acknowledged by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Dhruv Malhotra, who is a student of BA LLB and president of the college’s Legal Aid Committee, had moved a thought-provoking and meticulously researched petition to the MHA.

Recognising the seriousness and relevance of the concerns raised, the Women Safety Division of MHA has forwarded his petition to the Judicial Division for further action.

The recognition underscores Dhruv’s dedication to constitutional advocacy, social equity and legal reform.

By highlighting the need to address the misuse of certain laws and ensure a balanced approach to gender rights, Dhruv has not only taken a bold step in support of men’s legal protection but has also set an example of responsible legal citizenship. Dr Manavpreet Kaur Dhindsa, principal of CT Institute of Law, said every effort was being made to nurture students as socially conscious, articulate and reform-oriented legal professionals. “We are making every effort that empowers them to engage with real-world legal challenges,” he said.
