Keeping in view the increase in food consumption during the festive season and to protect public health, the Food Safety Department is conducting a special surveillance campaign across the district.
Under this campaign, today the food safety team collected samples, including two samples of milk, one of pickle and two of paneer, from various sweet shops in the city, under the leadership of Food Safety Officer Vivek Kumar. These samples will be sent to the laboratory for scientific examination and appropriate action will be taken under the Food Safety Act upon receipt of the report.
On this occasion, Food Safety Officer Vivek Kumar said that under this campaign, continuous inspections of sweet shops, bakeries, restaurants, wholesale depots and markets are being conducted, with special attention paid to the quality and cleanliness of food items to prevent the sale of adulterated and unsafe ingredients.
He appealed to all consumers to pay special attention to cleanliness, expiry dates and the FSSAI license number mentioned on packaging when buying food items. He urged that if adulterated or suspicious ingredients are being sold anywhere, such information should be reported immediately to the Food Safety Department.
