Dr Singh emphasised that the Punjab Government was actively working towards the eradication of TB through a multi-pronged approach that includes free diagnostic services, medication and nutritional support for the underprivileged patients.

“Providing free treatment is not enough. We must ensure that our patients also receive proper nutrition and care. These ration kits are part of our mission to holistically support those battling TB,” the minister said.

A total of 50 ration kits were distributed during the event. Dr Singh informed that over 125 TB patients in the district currently receive monthly ration support, which includes pulses, protein-rich foods and other essential grocery items. He said all TB patients registered at the Civil Hospital or other government healthcare centres across different blocks of the district were eligible for this support.

Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said the initiative was being carried out in collaboration with the Health Department, social and religious organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the DC office. He also appreciated joint efforts made to ensure the well-being of TB patients in the region.
