A 16-year-old girl has allegedly been lured away on the pretext of marriage in Bajwa village near Kapurthala.
According to a complaint filed by Darshan Kaur, resident of Bajwa village, her minor daughter went missing from their home on the night of August 29. The family had gone to bed after dinner, and when Kaur checked later in the night, her daughter was not in her room. Despite searching in and around the house, the family could not trace her.
On August 30, the family reportedly learned that Shinderpal Singh, a resident of the same area, had taken her daughter away by allegedly giving her false assurances of marriage.
Kaur has further alleged that several others were involved in the conspiracy, including Jagir Kaur, Wazir Singh, Sandeep Kaur, Sonia, and Akashdeep Singh.
The police have registered a case under Sections 363, 366, 120B of the IPC on the basis of the complaint, and investigations are underway.
