Having been re-arrested by the police in an alleged case of extortion, the remand of AAP Jalandhar Central MLA Raman Arora was extended by three more days on Wednesday.
Arora had been brought by the Rama Mandi police on production remand from Nabha jail on September 5 on the day he was ordered to be released by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He had been kept behind bars for nearly three-and-a-half months since his arrest by the Vigilance Bureau in May this year.
On September 5, the local court ordered his three-day police remand. He was produced in the court on Sunday and again sent to three more days of remand. While in remand, he has taken to a Amritsar hospital owing to ill-health. As the doctors declared him fine, he was brought back on Monday.
The police pleaded in the court today that since he was unwell for the last few days and details of his likely property in HP was still to be investigated, they required his custody for more days. The court again ordered his police remand for three days.
