All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of presiding over a complete collapse of law and order in Punjab, pointing to a surge in gun violence, bomb blasts, kidnappings and murders across the state.
“In one single day, Punjab saw three shocking crimes —- gunmen entered an Amritsar hospital and shot a doctor, a man in Batala was riddled with bullets at home, and a woman was murdered in Amritsar during a robbery. This is the state of Punjab under AAP. Citizens live in fear while the government remains silent,” Pargat Singh said.
Calling for urgent corrective measures, Singh demanded a judicial probe into the recent surge of violent crimes and bombings, a dedicated law and order task force to curb gangster activity and an immediate and transparent action against all those involved in crime, regardless of political affiliation. “Punjab today needs security, justice and accountability. Women, children and ordinary families cannot live under constant threat. The government must abandon its complacency and act with urgency, or history will hold it responsible for putting Punjab’s safety at risk,” Pargat Singh said.
