The Deputy Commissioner stated that sirens will be sounded across the district at 7.58 pm to signal the start of the mock drill. Following this, there will be a complete blackout from 8pm to 8.15 pm, during which the electricity across the city will be switched off.

In adherence to guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, a mock blackout drill will also be conducted in Kapurthala and Phagwara cities on the night of May 31, as part of preparedness measures to handle emergency situations.

According to Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, the drill will take place from 9.30 pm to 10 pm, during which all lights in homes, shops, glow signboards and CCTV cameras are to be switched off. The blackout will be preceded by a siren, signalling the start of the exercise.
