The anti-narcotic cell of the Jalandhar police today nabbed a person and recovered 275-gm heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Iqbal Singh, a resident of Korewala Khurd village in Moga.
Inspector Inderjeet Singh, incharge, anti-narcotic cell, said they were on a routine check near T-point Railway Colony Gurunanak Pura Road when they saw Iqbal coming on foot from the other side of the road. He said on seeing the police, he tried to run away, following which immediately caught him on suspicion.
“During checking, 275 gm of heroin was recovered from his possession”, he said, adding a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused at the Navi Baradari police station.
He further said after producing him in a local court, the police had taken him under two-day remand to investigate from where he was procuring heroin, and who all are involved in smuggling with him.
