Mohali, Amritsar, Bathinda in hockey semis

In the Asmita Hockey League (junior, sub-junior girls) being organised by the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with Hockey Punjab at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, teams from Mohali, Amritsar and Bathinda reached the semi-final in the sub-junior category, while teams from Bathinda and Jalandhar entered the semi-final in the junior category today.

In the matches played in the sub-junior category on the second day of the league, Mohali defeated Muktsar by a margin of 1-0 after a tough competition. Amritsar defeated Nawanshahr by a margin of 8-0, Bathinda defeated Ludhiana by 8-0 and Mohali defeated Jalandhar by 2-0 to enter the semifinal.

In the junior category, Bathinda defeated Mohali by 1-0 after a tough competition. Jalandhar defeated Ludhiana by 8-0 to enter the semifinal. In another match in the junior category, Muktsar defeated Hoshiarpur 4-2 to earn three points. The best player was declared during each match and was awarded a hockey stick by Alpha Hockey.

The chief guest of today’s matches were Avtar Singh Pinka, former chief coach of Surjit Hockey Academy.
