Mohan Singh Sai welcomes SGPC’s Rs 20 crore aid, urges transparency in use of Central funds

Social and religious leader Sardar Mohan Singh Sai has welcomed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami’s announcement of Rs 20 crore in aid for flood-affected people across Punjab.

Terming the initiative as “commendable,” Sai praised the SGPC for upholding the principle that the Guru’s treasury must always remain open for the poor and needy. He particularly appreciated the SGPC’s decision to supply diesel and wheat seeds to farmers owning less than 10 acres of land, which will help in re-sowing crops damaged by the floods.

Sai also acknowledged the relief efforts being carried out through gurdwaras, including the distribution of food, drinking water and tarpaulins to displaced families. “The Sikh community has always remained in Chardi Kala because in testing times, it keeps both its hearts and the doors of gurdwaras open for those in need,” he remarked.

However, Sai urged the Punjab government to ensure that the recently announced Rs 1,600 crore package from the Centre for flood victims is not misused. He stressed the need for transparent spending to ensure that every rupee is used for the rehabilitation and welfare of the affected population. Expressing optimism, he said that with collective efforts, Punjab will soon overcome this crisis and return to the path of progress and prosperity.
