MP, MLA distribute Rs 2 cr to 2k people for repair of houses
On Monday, Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar and MLA Chabbewal Dr Ishank Kumar handed over cheques worth Rs 2 crore to 2,000 beneficiaries from the Chabbewal and Mahilpur blocks for the repair of their houses.
Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal said there would be no shortage of funds for development and the pace of these works would accelerate in the coming months. He said, to date, Rs 10 crore had been allocated to 10,000 beneficiaries for house repairs, including the Rs 2 crore distributed that day. He said the state government had announced a grant of Rs 5 crore annually for MLAs, which would further expedite development projects in the villages.
He urged Sarpanches to monitor the funds credited to the Panchayats’ accounts and track how these funds are spent. A proactive approach, he said, would improve transparency and efficiency in public works. Dr Chabbewal further appealed to Sarpanches to ensure applications for pucca houses and other welfare schemes were filed fairly, without bias, so that all eligible beneficiaries could receive their due benefits.
MLA Dr Ishank Kumar said he had set a target to convert all katcha houses into pucca ones in his constituency and was confident of achieving this goal soon. He announced the deadline for submitting applications for pucca houses had been extended until April 30, allowing those who had not yet applied to do so.
