Phagwara, February 29

The Pandori village (Nakodar) resident who was booked for murdering his co-villager has succumbed to his injuries at a Jalandhar clinic.

Station House Officer (SHO) Dharminder Kaliyan said that Rannjit Singh alias Ranna, a resident of Pandori Khas village, crushed to death Jagdeep Singh, a resident of the same village on February 25 and was seriously injured while fleeing after committing the crime. He was under treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

Sukhdeep Singh, brother of Jagdeep Singh, had complained to the police that the victim was going to his fields on his motorcycle on Sunday morning when the accused, driving his vehicle fast, killed Jagdeep by crushing him beneath his vehicle.

He had said that the accused also tried to kill him and his nephew and fled but his car lost control after it hit another car and collided with a roadside tree, resulting in the death of Ram Pal, son of Piara Lal, a resident of Pandori who was travelling with the accused.

The Nakodar city police had registered a case under Sections 302 (murder), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief) of the Indian Penal Code against Rannjit Singh alias Ranna. The Station House Officer said that the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
