The city of Phagwara witnessed a grand spiritual gathering on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, as a vibrant Nagar Kirtan commenced from Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Nim Wala Chowk, on Sunday morning. The procession was led by Mohan Singh Gandhi, President of Gurudwara Singh Sabha Nimmawala, Phagwara and drew a large number of devotees from across the region.
The Nagar Kirtan, featuring hymn-singing, traditional instruments and decorated floats highlighting Sikh heritage, moved through major city routes. The procession passed through Starch Mill, Jama Masjid, Gaushala Road, Gandhi Chowk, Loha Mandi, Railway Road and Sarai Road before reaching Cinema Road, Phagwara. Residents and shopkeepers along the route offered flowers and refreshments to the sangat, reflecting the spirit of communal harmony and devotion.
Prominent political, social, and religious personalities also joined the religious procession. Among them were Dr Raj Kumar Chabewal, Member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur; Ranjit Singh Khurana, Incharge SAD (B) Phagwara; Rajinder Singh Chandigarh, President SAD (B) Rural; and Joginder Singh Mann, former Incharge of AAP Halka Phagwara. Senior BJP leader and State Executive Member Arun Khosla, Manjit Singh Happy, President of Akal Youth Federation Phagwara, and Smt. Anita Som Parkash, wife of former Union Minister Som Parkash, were also in attendance.
The procession further witnessed participation from Satbir Singh, President of Gurudwara Singh Sabha Model Town Phagwara; Taranjit Singh Walia, President Congress City Phagwara; and Ram Pal Uppal, Mayor of Phagwara, who paid their respects and extended best wishes to the Sikh community.
