Cold weather was no deterrent for hundreds of devotees who participated in Nagar Kirtan held on Thursday in the city to mark the Parkash Purb of the 10th Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh.

The Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha in Mohalla Gobindgarh and concluded in the evening at Gurdwara Dewan Asthan in Central Town. The Nagar Kirtan passed through PCM SD College, Railway Road, Mandi Fentonganj, Central Town, Milap Chowk, Phagwara Gate, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Panj Peer Chowk, Khingra Gate, Mai Hiran Gate, Patel Chowk, Old Jail Chowk and Rainak Bazaar areas.

Devotees washed the entire route with water as the bedecked palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib passed through. The Panj Pyaras led the Nagar Kirtan in traditional attire. The display of gatka, a Sikh martial art, performed by a Nihang jatha, drew a lot of attention.
