Naib Tehsildars’ power to register property sale deeds restored
District Magistrates of Kapurthala and Jalandhar have restored powers of Naib Tehsildars in their respective jurisdictions to register property sale deeds.
In an official order they stated: “Keeping in view administrative interests and in continuation of earlier orders in this regard, Naib Tehsildars of all sub-divisions of Kapurthala district, including Phagwara, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, Nakodar, Shahkot, Mehatpur, Nurmahal and Lohian Khas, are directed to register property sale deeds.”
Eleven Naib Tehsildars in Jalandhar have been authorised to register sale deeds. At present, only two Kanungos are entitled to register property sale deeds. The government had withdrawn registration powers from revenue officers in March following their strike.

of the term.
